I usually ride into Santa Rosa Park at least once a week. Today my daughter Jordan Odle and her friend Kelly from Thousand Oaks rode into Hill Canyon between 4:00-5:30.
Walked Angel, my daughter's Arab, to the Santa Rosa Park at about 4:00PM Wed.the 24th, and we encountered a good size rattle snake right before the little concrete bridge on Hill Canyon Rd.
Went for the first time ever and the second time ever this week with my friends Pam and Ellen respectively. I loved it and so did Brian Boru, my warrior horse! Pastoral and gorgeous...we are so lucky!
Went to the ribbon cutting ceremony today, it was fantastic. Great turnout and what a beautiful place! We are so fortunate to have this amazing park in Santa Rosa Valley. We are blessed!
I rode there last Thurs(26), 28th and today the 29th. We saw 6 trailers in the parking lot, 5 bicylists, 11 equestrians and 4 hikers-this is pro-bably a normal mix.
Went to the Santa Rosa Park today with Angel, our Arabian, and there was also a group of 6 of us who rode to the ribbon cutting ceremony on Sat. - a lovely ride! Martina
Trailered over to Hill Canyon with a friend on 4/18 and 4/22. Rode out on the trails for about 2 hours. What a perfect ride both days. Encountered a rattler on the side of the trail but we avoided him and he went on his way as we also did. Also two men with very large white inner tubes decided to go for a swim in the water. Really very amusing to see our horses reaction. Maybe the park can display a sign prohibiting swimming?
Can anyone give the residents info on rattlesnakes and any other type of snakes. ie. How likely they are to strike? When does the season end? How deadly or dangerous is a rattlesnake bite?
I was running on the horse trail that runs south of Santa Rosa Rd between Hidden Meadows and Camelot and had to jump over a rattlesnake. It was a long straight line right across the trail. My husband said they can't strike if they are not coiled. It doesn't seem safe to be on those trails. Does anyone know these answers?
On May 23, 09- trailered over with Vicki, Terri, and Nancy, met Gussie and Linda Martel at Hill Canyon Park. It was a fabulous ride. We crossed over 6 water crossings out and than back again. Saw a deer and some ducks. It was a spectacular day.
Great ride around the park. Saw two very curious coyotes. Someone needs to spread those piles of mulch out so that we can use the trail at the back part of the park. S
Great idea! We need to utilize this to record our riding time in Hill Cyn so we don't lose this park to other users.
